COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Argue the take. Not the player.

Gavel is built for disagreement without turning disagreement into harassment. Votes should be independent, arguments should address the idea, and community signals should stay real.

Last updated: September 29, 2026

1. Debate ideas, not identities

Challenge a gaming opinion as strongly as you want, but do not use Gavel to target, threaten, humiliate or harass another person. Disagreement is expected; personal abuse is not.

2. Keep content relevant and readable

Cases and arguments should make a genuine gaming point. Spam, repeated disruption, deliberately misleading submissions and content whose main purpose is to derail the product can be rejected or moderated.

3. Do not manipulate the room

  • Do not coordinate or create accounts to multiply voting power.
  • Do not abuse Jury, Rival Challenge, helpful-vote or reporting systems.
  • Do not attempt to reveal sealed results or arguments through unsupported paths.
  • Do not use automation to create fake community activity.

Activity and status can change how your profile looks, but they do not give your vote extra weight.

4. Content that may be moderated

Gavel's reporting system includes categories for spam, harassment, hateful material, sexual material, misleading content and off-topic content. Reports can also include another reason with an explanation. A report is a request for review, not an automatic removal.

5. Cases and arguments

Community Cases and arguments may be checked by automated systems and/or staff review. Moderation can approve, reject or request a rewrite. Approved content can still be reviewed later if new context or reports show a problem.

6. Rivals and Challenges

Rivals and Challenges are structured disagreement features, not permission to harass another player. Challenge actions are bounded by product rules, and Jury decisions are designed to judge arguments rather than reward popularity.

7. Reporting

Use the in-product Report control when a supported Case or approved argument breaks these guidelines. Do not file reports simply because you disagree with a take. Duplicate and rapid-repeat reporting is restricted by product controls.
